Organisations submit recommendations

The All Manipur Ethnical Socio-Cultural Organisation (AMESCO) and Meitei Pangal Khunthok Ningsing Thouram Committee have submitted a list of recommendations to Governor Anusuiya Uikey with an appeal to initiate the approval of these recommendations during the Assembly Session.
According to the letter submitted to the Governor signed by Loitongbam Ibotombi, president, AMESCO and Baseimayum Arshad, convenor, Meitei Pangal Khunthok Ningsing Thouram Committee (MEIPAK NINGTHOU Committee), the recommendations were formulated during a one-day Community Leaders Meet 2024 held on February 26 at the conference hall of the Institute of Co-operative Management Lamphelpat.
Notably, copies of the letter were also submitted to Chief Minister N Biren Singh and Th Satyabrata Singh, Speaker, Manipur State Assembly.
The recommendations include: appealing to all armed forces and armed groups to respect established human rights at times of conflict, by not charging upon the civilian population including women and children; urging the Central and State Government to take responsibility on the present turmoil for swift restoration of peace and harmony; exhorting the Central and State Government to grant adequate compensation to the families displaced, lives lost, persons physically and mentally deformed, properties ruined due to the violence and ensure resettlement of displaced families in their respective places and villages; demanding Special Economic Packages for needy sections of all communities to enable them to get relief and regain the potential to initiate livelihood start-ups and lastly standing in solidarity with efforts of all communities against all sorts of divisive policies that might tarnish and sabotage the age old inter-ethnic bonds of love and respect in the State.
AMESCO and MEIPAK NINGTHOU Committee appealed the Governor for necessary action to ensure prompt implementation of the recommendations in the larger interest of the people of Manipur and for peaceful co-existence of all ethnic communities.
