Kangpokpi, February 28 2016:
Every year nearly 200 students
in Twilang area along Imphal-
Tamenglong road, Sadar Hills
have to bear the saddle of
travelling at least 40 km to
appear in the HSLC
examination as no exam centre
was assigned in the area.
Kangpokpi being the near-
est exam centre for the
students of Twilang area, it
has become an annual prac-
tice for them to camp at
Kangpokpi only to write the
BOSEM's examination.
With the current HSLC
examination scheduled to
commence from March 1,
candidates from various
Government recognized high
schools at Twilang have be-
gan camping at Kangpokpi
to appear in the upcoming ex-
amination.
Arriving with their
luggages including utensils
apart from their study mate-
rials, candidates on reaching
Kangpokpi accompanied by
their respectively teachers
were seen fatigued busy ar-
ranging for their camp.
Around 190 students
from Thonglang High
School, Tujang Waichong
High School, Irang Part-II
High School, Gelnal High
School and Chalwa High
School from Twilang (IT
Road) area will appear in the

area is above 50 percent.

Poudel, general secretary, IT
Road Area Joint School
Board said that students from
various high schools in
Twilang area have to undergo
numerous hardships only to
appear the HLSC examination
no examination centre has
been allotted to the area since
the past many years.
Considering the grievances
of the student community,
particularly the HSLC candi-
dates who have to travel a
minimum of 40 kms only to
appear in the HSLC examina-
tion, IT Road Area Joint
School Board had submitted
a memorandum to the Educa-
tion Minister through
RD&PR Minister Francis
Ngajokpa last year in April
demanding allocation of ex-
amination centre in the area
on special consideration.
However, the repeated assur-
ance of the RD&PR Minister
for allocation of an examina-
tion centre in the area is yet to
be materialized, Tilachand
Poudel stated.
In the meantime, Kuki Stu-
dents' Organization-Twilang
Block has sought the atten-
tion of
the State Government
and the concerned depart-
ment urging allocation of
examination centre in the
area.
Enock Kipgen, president,
KSO, Twilang Block while
highlighting the difficulties
of the HSLC candidates from
the area said that it [non-
availability of examination
centre] belittles the spirit and
enthusiasm of the students.
It will be wise step on the
part of the State Government
as well as the concerned de-
partment to allocate an
examination centre in the area
for the welfare of the student
community, the student body
president said.
A candidate of the
upcoming HSLC candidate
from Tujang Waichong High
School said students contrib-
ute a minimum Rs 2000 and
18 kg of rice to cover for
their stay at the camp at
Kangpokpi.
"We have to cook and
serve ourselves apart from
preparing for the examina-
tion", the student said.
A teacher who accompa-
nied the student said the
amount contributed by the
students will be utilized for
their transportation, vegeta-
bles, firewood, water,
electricity, medical and other
required items during the
examination.

ing at Songlhou Inn, in
Kangpokpi Ward No.3 and

school are camping in other
parts of the town with simi-
lar condition.
