COVID-19: Strict measures taken up in Jiribam

Jiribam, March 27 2020:
District Administration of Jiribam too has imposed curfew in the district and took up strict measures to avoid gathering of people in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic.
Markets, shops were closed and the roads wore deserted look following the imposition of a curfew.
Jiribam Police also initiated necessary steps to enforce the imposition and took out a publicity campaign to inform residents to remain at home and avoid gathering to fight the spread of the contagious disease which have claimed more than 25,000 lives globally.
However, trucks carrying essential commodities including oil tankers and vehicles carrying LPG were given free passage after screening the drivers and handyman.
Meanwhile, sanitization work has also been carried out in the Jiribam Municipality areas since the past two days.
Speaking to this correspondent, Executive Officer of Jiribam Municipal Council, M Surjit maintained that the sanitization programme was undertaken jointly by Jiribam Municipal Council, Jiribam Police under the aegis of Superintendent of Police, Mubi Moirangthem and Fire Service Jiribam as a measure to tackle the spread of COVID-19 .
The sanitization/disinfection programme will be continued in other market areas too, M Surjit added while appealing all concerned to allow free movement of sanitary staff of Jiribam Municipal Council.
"Everyone has equal responsibility in combating COVID-19", he continued.
