Imphal, May 26 2024:
The National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN) has accused Indian intelligence agencies of waging a misleading propaganda campaign aimed at creating internal divisions within the organisation by using social media platforms to disseminate provocative content under fictitious Naga identities, aimed at inflaming tribal sentiments and creating discord within the Naga community.
NSCN, in a statement, alleged that these agencies are leveraging a well-established nexus with the Kuki National Army (KNA) and the People's Defence Force (PDF), alongside the Assam Rifles (AR), to conduct a proxy war against the NSCN, an allegation already denied by Assam Rifles.
The NSCN's allegations cited recent articles that have surfaced on social media, which is claimed were designed to stir controversy and tribal tensions.
Notably, an article titled "Muivah is a problem, not the solution" was followed by a counter-article titled "Rendering political education to Zabisituo Angami" .
These articles, according to the NSCN, were authored using a fictitious Tangkhul name and were part of a calculated effort to exploit tribal identities and sentiments.
The articles went viral on social media platforms, causing significant unrest and suspicion among the Naga tribes, particularly between the Angamis and the Tangkhuls.
NSCN noted strategic use of the names of revered Naga leaders AZ Phizo and Th Muivah in these articles, a tactic they describe as the "filthiest kind of propaganda" .
This move, they asserted, is a deliberate attempt to tarnish the legacy of these leaders and manipulate tribal loyalties for destructive purposes.
The NSCN's statement underscored their view that this propaganda campaign is a carefully considered social media strategy with the intent to erode the unity of the Naga people and their ongoing struggle for political rights and sovereignty.
The statement said that AZ Phizo remains a pivotal figure in the history of Naga political struggle, known for his leadership in declaring Naga independence and conducting the Naga plebiscite, which reaffirmed the sovereign will of the Naga people.
His tireless work and dedication, even while living in exile in London until his death, have left an indelible mark on the Naga political landscape.
Phizo's contributions are seen as foundational to the Naga quest for recognition and independence, and his legacy is deeply respected among the Naga people.
Th Muivah, another key leader within the NSCN, has played a crucial role in advancing the Naga political movement.
His commitment to the political goals laid out by AZ Phizo has been unwavering, and his leadership has been instrumental in securing the historic Framework Agreement with the Government of India on August 3, 2015 .
This agreement is significant for its recognition of the Naga independence declaration on August 14, 1947, and the Naga plebiscite of May 16, 1951, which reaffirmed the Naga people's sovereign will.
Under Muivah's leadership, the NSCN has continued to strive for the realisation of Naga sovereignty and political rights.
The NSCN's statement called on the Naga people to remain vigilant against the divisive tactics employed by Indian intelligence agencies and urged the community to honour and respect the contributions of leaders like AZ Phizo and Th Muivah, who have dedicated their lives to the Naga cause.
The NSCN also cautioned against being swayed by misleading and communal propaganda designed to undermine their unity and resolve.
