Eastern Liangmai Baptist Association inaugurated

Imphal, November 25 2017: Eastern Liangmai Baptist Association (ELBA) was inaugurated yesterday, November 24, by Rev Ephraim Shaiza, General Secretary of Tangkhul Naga Baptist Convention (TNBC) at ELBA headquarters near Kanglatongbi.

Dr Peter Thiumai, president of BGSTM, Han Ministries, South Asia, based in Dimapur delivered a message on the occasion.

According to Rev Chabonjinang Thiumai, Executive Secretary of ELBA, the association was founded on February 2, 2016 with a motto "To know Christ and to make Him known".

Rev Chabonjinang also said that formation of ELBA was a long felt need of eastern Liangmai people.

Meanwhile, a large number of people attended the ELBA inauguration programme.

Noted Liangmai gospel singer Alyson Abonmai presented a song.

Christina Thiumai, Makhen Baptist Church Choir and Sheba Abonmai also presented beautiful gospel songs on the occasion.

Members of Eastern Liangmai Baptist Association participated in the inaugural programme.

Ch Rampibou, evangelist delivered touching speech while encouraging the gathering to continue working to glorify His Kingdom.

Wiridin Thiumai, Secretary of Formation Committee of ELBA narrated on how the Association came into being.

He also clearly informed the gathering about the reasons and goals of ELBA formation.

Rev Charaibou Ringkangmai, Chairman of ELBA Formation Committee also told the people about the new Association.

According to ELBA leaders, church leaders, social workers, village chairmen, intellectuals, theologians, youth leaders and village authorities from eastern Liangmai area felt the need to form an association.

Towards this aspiration, and for the first time, these Liangmai leaders came together in the month of December in 2015 at Namdilong Baptist Phumling, Kanglatongbi to work out details on the formation of ELBA and announced the formation of the Association on February 2, 2016 .
