Imphal, August 25 2020:
A woman of Macheng village, Lamlongei, Mantripukhri has alleged that some of her villagers have been exerting strong pressure upon her family to abandon the village.
Speaking to the Sangai Express, the woman claimed that the villagers have asked her family to abandon the village before September 5, after her complaint against the shooting of her pet dog by another villager was exposed to media and social media.
The incident took place on July 26, where another villager shot and injured her pet dog.
She sought the help of Yening Animal Foundation (YAF) after the police refused to file her complaint, she asserted.
She added that she and her family have vacated their residence at Macheng (Lamlongei) Village and shifted now to another locality in Imphal East owing to the villagers' pressure.
She went on to allege that the villagers who asked her family to abandon the village have even asked other villagers in Macheng (Lamlongei) Village to dissociate with her family besides warning shopkeepers nearby her residence of awarding punishment if they sell goods to the same family.
Claiming that she and her family had neither violated any law nor making enmity with anyone, the woman asserted that she was merely expressing her concern against the cruelty committed against her pet dog.
She also asked animal lovers in the State to support her in fighting against the cruelties to animals.
