Literary awards announced

Thokchom Thouyangba Meitei's Manipuri story book � Eshusha Pupu Waree Leerage � was among 24 best children literary books of the country selected for Bal Sahitya Puraskar 2015 .
Five novels, four collections of stories, three collections of poetry, one book of one-act play and 11 writers for their total contribution to children literature have won the Bal Sahitya Puraskar this year.
The award in the form of a casket containing an engraved copper plaque and a cheque of Rs 50,000 will be presented to the awardees at a special function to be held at Mumbai on November 24 this year.
The awards were recommended by distinguished jury members representing 24 Indian languages and approved by the Executive Board of the Sahitya Akademi which met today at Guwahati under the chairmanship of the President of Sahitya Akademi Dr Vishwanath Prasad Tiwari.
National award winning film critic RK Bidur Singh, Sahitya Akademi award winning writer in Manipuri Translation Dr S Ibocha Singh and Prof Thounaojam Ratankumar Singh were the jury members for Manipuri language.
Those who have won the awards for novels are Tiren Boro (Bodo), Sowmya Rajendran and Niveditha Subramanium (English), Ramnath G.Gawade (Konkani), Ramdeo Jha (Maithili) and Mukti Upadhaya Baral (Nepali) .
Those who have won the awards for short stories are Nayeem Kashmiri (Kashmiri), Thokchom Thouyangba Meitei (Manipuri), Krishna Kumar Ashu (Rajasthani) and Janardan Hedge (Sanskrit).
Those who have won the awards for poetry are Tara Chand Kalandri (Dogri), Srikanta Saren (Santali) and Sella Ganapathi (Tamil).
Bano Sartaj (Urdu) is the awardee for her book on one-act play.
Eli Ahmed (Assamese), Kartik Ghosh (Bengali), Dhiruben Patel (Gujarati), Sherjang Garg (Hindi), T..SNagaraja Shetty (Kannada), S.Sivadas (Malayalam), Leeladhar Hedge (Marathi), Snehalata Mahanty (Odia), Sukhdev Madpuri (Punjabi), Jetho Lalwani (Sindhi) and Chokkapu Venkataramana (Telegu) are the awardees of the Bal Sahitya Puraskar 2015 for their total contribution in children literature.
Angom Sarita Devi's poetry book - Mee Amashung Shaa - was among 23 literary books announced today at Guwahati for the Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar 2015 .
The award is given to the writers who are below 35 years as on the 1st January of the year of the award.
The jury members for Manipuri language in the category are Laishram Sadananda Singh, Prof Naorem Khagendra singh and Prof Nahakpam Aruna.
