Roger murder case: Court frame-charges against accused Ajay

Nongthongbam Ajay Meetei, who is the prime suspect in murder of Irom Roger on March 20 last year at Ghari along Imphal Airport road, has been charge-framed by an order of the Session Judge, Manipur East, which is also a Special Court of CBI.
According to a reliable source, Nongthongbam Ajay Meetei (29) who has been charge-framed by the Special CBI Court is the son of MLA N Biren of Luwangshangbam Mayai Leikai.
The source revealed that N Ajay Meetei committed the crime intentionally by firing from an M20 license gun, killing Irom Roger at the spot on March 20 at around 2 pm at Ghari village opposite to KT Girls Hostel.
The act is an offence punishable under Section 302 IPC.
The source pointed out that use of M20 License gun with 'intent' is in contravention of sections 5 and 7 of Arms Act and hence the crime committed is an offence punishable under Section 27 of the Arms Act.
In connection with the killing, CBI Anti-Corruption Branch, Imphal took up an FIR case under Section 302/34 of IPC and Section 27 of Arms Act and carried out an investigation.
Based on the findings of the investigation, CBI submitted a charge sheet against the accused to the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate of Imphal West.
Accordingly CBI Special Court has issued an order framing charges against N Ajay Meetei for further trial.
In the charge sheet, CBI maintained that since sufficient evidences could not be collected against the four associates of the accused, namely Soram Raj Singh of Nagamapal Soram Leirak, Bachaspatimayum Roshinikumar Sharma alias Tolly of Brahmapur Thangapat Mapal, Thongbam Anilkumar alias Dhruba of Thangmeiband Maisnam Leikai and Puyam Shiddharatha Singh alias Boy of Singjamei Mayengbam Leikai Oinam Thingel Leirak, they have been discharged from the case by an order of the Session Judge, Manipur East.
