Help to jail inmates

With the objective of providing a source of livelihood/ rehabilitation to women jail inmates after they complete their jail term and are released, Manipur State Women's Development Corporation (MSWDC) Limited, Imphal, launched the 4th batch vocational training for women jail inmates in the trade of embroidery and tailoring at Manipur Central Jail, today.
The inaugural function of the training programme was graced by S Satyabhama Devi, Chairperson, MSWDC Limited and A Kunjakeshor Singh, SP (Prisons) as the chief guest and president respectively.
Speaking at the function, Satyabhama informed that the vocational training programme was launched as an initiative to provide a source of income and livelihood for jail inmates when they are released from jail.
She continued that the duration of the training programme will be six months and added that tailoring and embroidery machines will be provided free of cost to the trainees and certificates will be issued at the end of the programme as well.
Satyabhama added that opportunities will be given to prisoners who have completed their prison term and left the jail before the completion of the training programme so that they can continue their training at other centres of MSWDC which are presently outside the jail.
She exuded confidence that the training programme will go a long way towards rehabilitating the women prisoners.
