Efforts on to improve education sector: Minister Basanta

Education minister Th Basanta Kumar has said that efforts are on to make Manipur one of the leading states of the country in education sector by the year 2024 .
The minister disclosed this during the inauguration ceremony of a newly constructed building of Pukhrambam High School in Bishnupur district on Monday.
Speaking as chief guest of the event, minister Basanta pointed out that the Government of India brought out a new education system called National Education Policy-2020 to bring a change in the education sector and many states of the country have implemented the policy.
With the implementation of the policy, Manipur managed to become one of the leading states in education sector and stood 5th position when compared with other states, he said, adding that the state government is working to improve the ranking to 1st or 2nd by next year.
He further said that shortage of teaching staff and infrastructure are the biggest challenge faced by the state in education sector at present but the government is working to address outstanding issues besetting the education sector.
The event organised by school management committee was also attended by former police inspector L Ahongjao, ZEO Bishnupur N Chingkhei, chief engineer L Sarat, Sanjenbam Pukhrambam GP former prad-han N Birjit and local ward members P Ibemcha Devi and O Manglemba.
