Imphal, November 22 2011:
Convenor of NDA Sharad Yadav has reportedly conveyed to the Janata Dal (United), Manipur state that the proposal of Supra-state body is for real and the Union Home Minister, Chief Minister of Manipur as well as the NSCN (IM) knew about it.
Addressing a press conference in this regard at the party office located in Abethoi Korea Market here today, President of Janata Dal (United), Manipur state unit M Tombi observed that there is no need for discussing whether there has been such a proposal or not any more.
Now that the hidden agenda of the closed door meeting held between the Union Home Minister, Chief Minister of Manipur and UNC at Senapati has been exposed by Seven Sisters Post and the government of Assam had already rejected the proposal and the government of Manipur ought to follow suit.
Tombi explained that his party has no objection to Indo-Naga peace talks as such.
But NSCN (IM) cannot represent all the communities in the negotiation.
Just as fire could not be kept covered by fire for long, the issue of Supra state body could never be concealed.
The government of India and the government of Manipur should be held responsible for any eventuality in this regard, Tombi added.
General Secretary (administration) of the party S Indrakumar noted that Seven Sisters Post could not have simply published a report without any basis.
Why is Union Home Minister P Chidambaram keeping quiet when the editor of Seven Sisters Post called him a liar?, he questioned.
In connection with the upcoming election to the state Assembly, party President M Tombi ruled out any possibility of alliance with Naga People's Front (NPF).
JD (U) would press for conducting the election both in the hills and the valley on the same day as well as for confining all the cadres of the SoO signatories Kuki UG groups in their respective designated camps on the day of the election.
Coming out strongly against the failure of the state government and the centre to resolve the over 3- month long economic blockade, Tombi informed that JD (U) would consult with its 20 MPs for taking the issues of economic blockade and Supra-state body during the winter session of the Parliament.
