JAC demands shifting of Sports University site

Imphal, March 22 2015: Joint Action Committee (JAC) of Affected Land Owners' Association against Forced Land Acquisition for Sport University, Manipur has said that it will appeal to the Prime Minister to shift the proposed Yaithibi Laukol Sports University site to another place.

The JAC in a release stated that since the past eight months, the residents and the public have been appealing the Government to save the residential areas and paddy fields under Yaithibi Laukol.

However, no positive response has been given to the appeal till now, the JAC said and alleged that "manipulation and criminal conspiracy" have been committed by MLAs and certain officials by submitting fake land documents and other documents on forceful transfer of land to the Government for the construction of Sports University.

The JAC also condemned the State Government's announcement on availability of land for the Sport University at Yaithibi Loukol.

JAC warned that MLAs and the authorities involved in the conspiracy should be held responsible for any unwanted incidents and agitations arising out of the forced land acquisition.
