Financial literacy camp

A one day financial literacy awareness camp was organised by
UBI, Mini Secretariat Branch under the sponsorship of
NABARD at Shirui village community hall today, reports
Mungchan Zimik.
Kangbam Joy Singh, DM, GTIDS cum Senior Manager
of UBI, Ukhrul who attended the programme as the
resource person enlightened the villagers about the impor-
tance of having an individual saving account.
Under the PMJDY, rural people can open an account
with zero balance but one must ensured that minimum
balance should be maintained so as to avail various benefits
provided under the schemes, he said.
"Through your personal bank account, various insurance
schemes and benefits under PMSPY, PMJPY, APY,
MUDRA, KCC and JLG etc would be directly transferred,"
Kangbam Joy Singh pointed out.
Over 70 villagers including village headman Willington
attended the financial literacy camp.
