Divine Club refutes allegation

Divine Club, Kakwa Nameirakpam Leikai, Imphal has refuted the claim of physical assault on a journalist by bandh supporters at Thongju Nameirakpam Leikai (Beni Leikai) on September 19 .
On the fateful day, some bandh supporters spotted a man taking video/photos of the road blockade and proceeded to question him why he was doing so, said a statement issued by Ashem Sunil Singh, general secretary, Divine Club.
In response, the man identified himself as a journalist of IS Com and allegedly used harsh words which culminated into an argument between the two.
However, the statement claimed that in order to prevent the situation from escalating any further, the journalist was calmed down and sent on his way.
"There was some physical contact/touching but he was not physically assaulted", the statement clarified.
The press release also went on to say that there is no question of the Divine Club and Kakwa Nameirakpam Leikai Women Welfare Association challenging or targeting the media fraternity.
Such incidents will not happen again in the locality in the future, the statement assured.
