48 hrs bandh affects normal life in Moreh town

Tengnoupal, August 21 2019:
Hill Tribal Council, Moreh Youth Club, Kuki Student Organisation, Kuki Women Union and Human Rights, All Moreh Traders Association launched the 48 hour total shut down at Moreh town since today morning.
The bandh was called condemning the alleged restrictions imposed by 43 Assam Rifles to residents of Moreh and its surrounding areas while passing the Indo-Myanmar gate no 1 .
The bandh was effective along NH 102 (Imphal-Moreh road) as well, reports our correspondent.

Government offices, schools, Colleges and business establishments remained closed while vehicular movement was also restricted during the shut down.
Meanwhile, CO, 43 Assam Rifles inspected an AR sentry post (established at a waiting shed near a cemetery), which was taken down by the protesters during the bandh.
Speaking to media persons, Kuki Women Union and Human Rights Moreh president Kikim said that the unions condemned the alleged frequent harassment by Assam Rifles to locals while travelling around Indo-Myanmar gate no 1 and border areas.
The president went on to state that the waiting shed which also has been a resting place for labourers, auto drivers has been transformed into sentry post/bunker which is not acceptable.
Later, a team of police arrived to put the situation under control and prevent any unwanted incidents from happening.
A closed door meeting with the unions and SP Tengnoupal, Additional SP was carried out at Hill Tribal Council Moreh office.
