Imphal, May 21 2017:
A public meeting was held today at Laishram Khulem Leikai community hall, Naoremthong on the ongoing political dialogue between Government of lndia and NSCN-IM, and its possible impacts on Manipur.
Speaking at the gathering, UCM secretary Y Dhiren, while appreciating the peace talk, said that the dialogue process and any solution worked out at the end of the process should not impinge upon Manipur and her territorial integrity.
The public meeting was organised by the Laishram Khulem Leikai Development Committee.
Dhiren rued that the cordial relationships shared among different indigenous communities of Manipur have been breaking apart.
The Government of India ought not disturb neighbouring States in their efforts to fulfil NSCN-IM's demands.
The same applies to the rebel outfit too, Dhiren said.
If the political dialogue impinges upon the interest of neighbouring States in any manner, it will never bring any positive outcome.
The people of Manipur are always prepared to fight back any challenge to its integrity and territorial boundary.
Prime Ministe Narendra Modi and his Government should not do -anything like sacrificing the territorial integrity of Manipur in their efforts to win election in Nagaland which would go to polls in 2018, Dhiren asserted.
He also recalled the historic mass outcry of June, 2001.Any attempt to disintegrate Manipur would be resisted tooth and nail and there would be even more forceful civil movement.
The Government of India ought to take a correct decision after considering both sides.
Any one-sided decision would be disastrous, he added.
