CS provides food to home

Imphal, April 21 2020:
Chief Secretary Dr J Suresh Babu distributed food items to Carmel Jyoti Children's Care Home, located at Luwangsangbam, Imphal East during a programme organised by District Administration, Imphal East today.
The food items distributed to the home were from Food Bank, District Administration, Imphal East.
The items distributed include 3 kg of rice, 1 kg of dal, 1 kg of potato, 1 kg of onion and a packet of salt.
Apart from this, hand sanitisers, body soaps, packaged drinking water and biscuits among others were also distributed to the children of the home.
The distribution of food items from the Food Bank was organised, following the State Government's initiative to ensure uninterrupted supply of food grains to the people of the State during the ongoing lockdown to contain the outbreak of COVID-19 .
It may also be mentioned that the Food Bank was introduced by Imphal East District Administration to provide immediate aid in the form of free food, to the poor and needy who are facing scarcity of essential commodities, due to lockdown.
The Food Bank has so far distributed rations, non-food items like personal hygiene, soaps among others to around 12,000 families, persons living with HIV/AIDS, migrant workers, aged, ex-lepers and poor people.
Secretary, Jacintha Lazarus, Deputy Commissioner, Imphal East Dr Rangitabali Waikhom and other Government officials were also present at the food distribution programme.
