Manipuri Language Day celebrated at Kakching, Jiribam

Kak/Jiri, August 20 2018: Sahitya Seba Samiti, Manipur Kakching celebrated Manipur Lon Numit at Library and Information Centre, Kakching Phoushupat Leikai, Kakching District today.

Kengba Yengkhom (Shyamsharan), president, Sahitya Seba Samiti Manipur Kakching, Naorem Gandhar, retired Principal and Kshetri Bir, Sahitya Academy Awardee attended the celebration as dignitaries.

Doctor Wahengbam Kumari Chanu, Assistant Professor, Lilong Haoreibi College stressed on observing Manipuri Lon Numit.

"Mee Onkhinu Lai Nang", a poetry book written by Dr Nongmaithem Pramodini was also released as part of the celebration.

Yengkhom Bihari (Kakching) spoke about the newly released book.

Meanwhile, Manipuri Language Day was also celebrated at Raja Tamohan Roy Library Hall at Babupara, Jiribam district, organised by Manipuri Shaitya Parishad Jiribam.

Khaidem Kanta Singh, general secretary, Manipur Shirt Story India and S Khogendro, president MSP Jiribam attended the celebration as dignitaries.

Dr Sharat Chandra Longjomba's book titled "Seirenggi Phida Neinaroigi Mityeng" was released during the event.

Later, a poetry recitation written by different individuals was also held.
