Bodies to be donated

Prominent emas (mothers) and other civil society leaders of Manipur have pledged to donate their bodies to RIMS, after their deaths.
According to a statement from RIMS Media Advisor N Phillip Singh, a simple program was held at the Administrative Block of RIMS, Imphal today to formally handover the documents to the donors by Professor A Santa Singh, Director, RIMS.
The documents were handed over in the presence of Medical Superintendent, RIMS, Professor Sanjib Singh Nepram, Head of Anatomy Department, Professor RK Ajita and other officials of the institute.
The donors are Yumlembam (O) Memma Leima, president, Nongpok Leingak Apunba Nupi Lup; Nongthombam (O) Radhamani Leima, general secretary, Nongpok Leingak Apunba Nupi Lup; Haobam (O) Premabati Leima, former VP, All Manipur Progressive Farmers Association; Haobam Ibotombi Singh, social activist; Lourembam Somola, social activist; Chungkham Romeo Singh, president, Manipur Peace and Integrity Council and Nongthombam Rupachandra, president, United People's Front.
Yumlembam (O) Memma Leima stated that she is 85 years old but could not complete her wish to work for the betterment of the people and hence decided to offer her body to the institute in the interest of others who may need it.
The Director expressed his appreciation to the donors and stated that the institute will make all necessary efforts to provide free medical facilities whenever needed for the donors.
