Sit-in staged against CAB, 2016 in different parts of Thoubal

Thoubal, January 20 2019:
Sit-in protest were staged against Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2016 in different parts of Thoubal district today in support of the ongoing outcry against the bill across the State.
The protest demonstration was jointly organized by five different students union - SSUM, RSF, MSAD, AMPSUM and AMMSO - under the banner "Save Indigenous People" in which Thoubal Keithel Apunba Potfam Fambi Lup staged the sit-in at Thoubal bazar, Yairipok Keithel Apunba Lup at Yairipok new market and Tampha Keithel and Wangjing Keithel Apunba Lup at Wangjing market.
During the sit-in protests, the protestors used banners which read as "Withdraw Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2016", "MLA and MP in support of Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2016 must resign" and "Political parties and organizations in support Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2016 should be drived out of Manipur".
The protestors also raised their dissenting voice against CAB and burnt the copy of the bill at Wangjing and Yairipok market.
However, heavy security measures prevented the protestors from burning the bill at Thoubal market.
Meanwhile, CCSK, POCIL Heirok, AMUCO, and women vendors of Heirok market jointly organized a sit-in protest at Heirok market against the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016.They also used banners such as "We oppose Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016", "Implement Manipur People's Protection Bill 2018 immediately", "Take firm stand against the bill by the State Govt", "CAB cannot be implemented in Manipur and other North East States".
Advisor CCSK Joy Chingakham, secy general AMUCO Sanjoy, president POCIL Heirok Kh Ibomcha and other resource persons spoke on the ill effects of the Bill during the protest demonstrations.
