9 LPG cylinders cap implemented in State as well

The Sales Manager, Manipur of Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has instructed all the sub-dealers in the State to put into action the decision of the Union Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs for providing 9 LPG cylinders to all the consumers in a year.
The decision was conveyed to the LPG sub-dealers of the State by the Sales Manager, Manipur of IOC during a meeting called at Hotel Imphal around 1 pm yesterday.
According to report received by Hueiyen Lanpao, the earlier decision of the Union Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs to provide only 6 LPG cylinders to the consumers in a year will cease to exist.
After the setting up of the new system, LPG sub-dealers would have to provide five LPG cylinders to its consumers starting from Sept, 2012 to March,2013.And from April, 2013 to March 31, 2014, all the consumers would have to be provided nine LPG cylinders each.
The report further said that if a consumer desires to take additional LPG cylinders, they have to get it at a non-subsidised rate of RS 1,120 (domestic) and Rs 1,387 (non-domestic) .
In the meeting held yesterday, the Sales Manager also conveyed to the LPG sub-dealers that on-line gas booking system would come into effect in Manipur as done in other parts of the country, very soon.
As such the sub-dealers were advised to get themselves prepared for the same.
Meanwhile, questions have been raised whether the consumers in Manipur would still get the three LPG cylinders at subsidized rates as decided by the Congress Government of the State, which was taken in accordance to the decision of the Central Government for providing three additional LPG cylinders to consumers in all Congress-ruled States earlier when it was decided to provide only six cylinders in a year.
