Tamei gets Doctors, Ambulance, Ultra-sound machine

With the posting of two doctors and assurance given by the Directorate of Health Services to give another three doctors and requirement of the Primary Health Centre, PHC people of Tamei on Saturday suspended its agitation temporarily after it went through tough life for complete five months.
People of Tamei have been demanding posting of doctors at the PHC since June this year.
Due to lack of doctor at PHC, the frontal organisations of Tamei had locked up the PHC for a complete two months period.
Since then, numerous tragedies have occurred and precious lives have reportedly lost.
However, to the surprise of Tamei people, two doctors have been posted along with provision of one ambulance, one portable ultra- sound machine, three wheel chairs and medicines for the Primary Health Centre, Tamei.
The Director of Health Services, Manipur also assured the agitators that he would send three more doctors and provide requirement by next Monday.

With all these, the agitators agreed to suspend the stir and to open the PHC on Saturday and Dr.O Ibomcha, Director Department of Health Service, Manipur opened the PHC which was locked for complete two months in the presence of Z.Kikhonbou, Vice Chairman HAC, Dr.Simson Sawo, Addl Director, Dr.Awor Luikham, Jt.
Director, Dr.Binata Jt.
Director, Dr.Probin, Dy Director, Dr Guneshwor, State Ayus Officer, Dr.Chambo Gonmei, Chief Medical Officer Tamenglong and his staffs, Tamei PHC Staffs and public of Tamei.
Explaining on why doctor was posted so late in Tamei PHC, Dr.Ibomcha said Manipur government is running without any Director (Health) for more than five months.
In the talk with the agitators, Z Kikhonbou, Vice Chairman HAC said that Tamei problem had occurred during the acute shortage of doctors in Manipur.
Now, Tamei PHC gets two doctors namely Dr.Stephen Lungkuliangpou Daimei and Dr.Thoithoilu Gangmei.
Dr.Stephen joined his duty on Saturday but Dr.Thoithoilu Gangmei is yet to join.
Talking to Huieyen Lanpao, Dr.O Ibomcha, said that modality has made not to transfer the doctor who is posted at far flung remote area.
"They will have to stay for at least one or two years and their salary too is to be increased.
We are waiting for the approval of the state government", Dr.O Ibomcha said.
Regarding the doctor who did not join their duty, the director replied that he had served suspension order.
Regarding the maintenance of Ambulance and PHC, the Director replied that a sum of Rs.2 lakh is sanctioned for a year.
Later a public meeting was held at the guest house of Tamei PHC, where the Director assured the public that he would try his level best to mend the water problem and other requirement of the PHC.
To the request of the Chief Medical Officer, Tamenglong, the director will send specialist doctors to District Hospital Tamenglong before Christmas this year and try his level best to provide blood bank facilities, too.
In the meantime, AB Adin, Secretary Village Authority Chairmen Council Tamei Area informed to Hueiyen Lanpao that the agitation would continue, if all the assurances are not fulfilled within the stipulated time.
Later in the day, Chief Medical Officer, Tamenglong also hosted a meeting with all the PHC Tamei staffs for nearly one hour and gave strict instruction to the staffs to run the PHC smoothly.
Though the day is going down, some parents along with their kids are waiting for doctor to avail medical treatment.
