Inculcate health seeking behaviour among people: Vumlunmang Vualnam

Pointing out that the health seeking behaviour of the general populace, especially in rural areas are still weak, Principal Secretary, Health & Family Welfare Vumlunmang Vualnam has asked all the authorities concerned to inculcate the same behaviour among the general masses and foster it apart from catering services under various health schemes being implemented in the State.
He was speaking as the chief guest in the distribution ceremony of delivery kits under Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram (JSSK) cum felicitation of volunteers under Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matriva Abhiyan (PMSMA) which was jointly organized today by National Health Mission, Manipur and Directorate of Health & Family Welfare Services, Manipur at Indian Medical Council (IMA) Hall, Lamphelpat.
He advocated for building a cordial relationship between doctors, nurses as well as all staffs concerned and patients by catering services in polite manner and giving proper explanation to the patients and general masses whenever they approached them.
Saying that safety in health care is the top priority for both the general public and health care service providers, Vumlunmang Vualnam maintained that various approaches have been adopted by the Central Government and State Government which aim at addressing the maternity and maternal related matters, including PMSMA.
Further underscoring the importance of looking into the means for addressing the immediate healthcare needs of the people, especially in rural areas, he opined that there is a need for a proper mapping of healthcare functionaries as well as improving the HR matters in medical set-ups in the State.
JNIMS Director Dr Th Bhimo while speaking as guest of honour highlighted that PMSMA is primarily a scheme meant for taking care for pregnant women during anti-natal stage which emphasised on detection and screening of several ailments like diabetes, lung cancer, Hepatitis B and C among others.
He also maintained that JSSK give emphasis On taking care of pregnant mothers and infants during the delivery and post delivery period.
The function was also attended by Health Services Director Dr K Rajo Singh and Additional Director MC Dr P Shyamsundar Singh as the president and guest of honour respectively.
Apart from distributing delivering kits to various CMOs and MOs of various districts, many volunteers were also felicitated for their contribution in the implementation of PMSMA.
