Man escapes blast unhurt

Imphal, January 19 2022: A 24 year old man identified as K Kanson (24) had a providential escape as a bomb exploded next to his bed at Arapti Mamang Leikai under Keirao Constituency, today at around 2.30 am today.

A team of Manipur police including DGP P Doungel inspected the site.

Speaking to the media, K Kanson, s/o Loken, stated that he was woken up by the sound of a certain stone-like object falling near his bed and found it to be a hand grenade.

"The grenade exploded as soon as I took cover," Kanson narrated and added that he didn't sustain any injury.

Saying that he has no enmity with anyone, he urged the State Government to look into the matter with utmost seriousness to ensure such an incident doesn't recur.

Denouncing the incident, a sit in protest was staged.

At the demonstration, mother of Kanson, K Lata stated that they don't have enmity with anyone other than certain misunderstandings over PDS rice distribution.

Condemning the attack, she urged the authority concerned to take up necessary actions at the earliest.
