Workshop cum exhibition on Ethnic Designs begins

A two day workshop cum Exhibition of Novel Products based on Ethnic Designs and Materials has commenced today at the CSIR, NOrth East Institute of Science and Technology, Lamphalpat.
The workshop was jointly organised by the CSIR, North East Institute of Science and Technology, Jorhat and CSIR Central Leather Research Institute, Chennai under the Rural Development Programme of Ministry of Science and Technology.
Lok Sabha MP Dr T Meinya and MLA Radhabinod Koijam graced the function as Chief Guest and President respectively.
Director, CSIR-NEIST, Jorhat, Assam Dr PG Rao also attended the inaugural function as Guest of Honour.
Speaking on the occasion Dr T Meinya said that India is advancing in the field of Science and Technology among the developing countries.
However, development of basic science seems to be ignored in the country.
It is very important to develop such basic sciences for the welfare of the society.

MLA Radhabinod Koijam said that the workshop will give some benefits to the unemployed youths of the state if the projects are initiated in the state successfully.
An exhibition of various products of raw materials available in the state including Ladies bags, carry bags, purse, airbags, File folders and card holders was also inaugurated by T Meinya as part of the workshop.
