Mother wants death penalty for rapist, who raped her minor children

In a heart-wrenching incident, two minor siblings were raped by a person in Ukhrul district.
The man identified as NK Ramyo (63), s/o (Late) NK Songfung of Langli village in Ukhrul, repeatedly raped the minor girls aged 6 and 8 from July 28 to August 2, said the mother of the victims speaking to this reporter today.
Demanding death penalty for the rapist, the mother said that the two minors were at her paternal home for schooling when the incident took place.
"My paternal family informed that the children were not well.
They advised us go to hospital," she said.
After they brought' the children home, the minors allegedly revealed that they were raped multiple times by NK Ramyo.
"He threatened the children that he would kill them if they open their mouths about the matter," she said the minors told her crying with shock and fear.
"My husband is a daily wage earner and I work in field to support our family.
This is most cruel crime.
He must be given death penalty," said the broken mother.
Meanwhile, the accused is in Sajiwa Jail under judicial remand till August 30.He was arrested on August 8 and a case under The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act was registered after the family of the victims filed a complain at the Ukhrul District Women Police Station.
Speaking to this reporter, chairperson of Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Ukhrul said that the children have been traumatized by the incident.
Medical examinations at RIMS have confirmed rape.
They are under immense physical and mental pain.
They are under medication for speedy recovery, the chairperson informed.
CWC through the District Child Protection Unit has directed the Ukhrul District CMO for all possible medical attentions to the victims.
And directions have been given to the ZEO Ukhrul District for educational assistance for the minors.
CWC will provide every assistance to the victims and family members regarding the case, the chairman further said.
It may be mentioned that for the first time in Manipur, death penalty was awarded to R David, a 21 -year-old man, for rape and murder of a 4-year-old girl in 2015.The Parliament had recently passed The Criminal Law (Amendment) Bill, 2018 which increases the minimum punishment for rape of women from 7 to 10 years and introduces death penalty as punishment for committing rape of girls below 12 years.
