AMSU conducts awareness on plastic policy

Moreh, July 18 2022: All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU), Tengnoupal District Committee conducted an awareness drive on the ill-effects of using single use plastic among shop owners of Moreh town on Monday.

During the drive, volunteers of AMSU unit made the shop owners and people aware that use of single use plastic products in Manipur has been banned with the implementation of Manipur Plastic Policy, 2022 since July 1 .

They informed shops owners that plastic items below 100 micron including ear-bud with plastic sticks, plastic stick balloons, plastic flags, candy sticks, icecream sticks, polystyrene for decoration, plates, cups, glasses, cutlery such as forks, spoons, knives, straw, trays, wrapping or packaging films around sweet boxes, invitation cards and cigarette packets, plastic or PVC banners have been prohibited under the policy.

They also cautioned shop owners about punishment including closure of shop prescribed under the policy if found using the plastic items banned.
