Imphal, May 18 2016: The BJP, Manipur Pradesh has today demanded befitting punitive action against the police personnel involved in brutal assault of Tourangbam (O) Tarini on May 8 night at Gopalji Leirak while participating in a JCILPS torch rally.

It may be recalled that Tarini was pulled up by police after an FIR was lodged on May 11 for staging an indefinite hunger strike since May 9 and taken to JNIMS security ward, where she has been force fed via a nasal drip.

While condemning the act of the police personnel, it urged the Government to withdraw the FIR against her and punish the police personnel involved and bring the matter to an amicable solution at the earliest, according to a press release issued by the general secretary (Media) of BJP, Manipur Pradesh.
