More stray animals fed by JCCWB

The Joint co-ordination Committee on Wildlife and Biodiversity (JCCWB), which is formed by Wildlife and Biodiversity Conservation Committee (WBCC) and Unique Wildlife Protection Committee (UWLPC), continued to feed stray animals which are also affected by the Nationwide.
It may be mentioned that the drive of feeding stray animals taking shelter in different markets was flagged off by Thoubal SP, Dr S Ibomcha yesterday.
Over 260 cattle and 7 horses were fed today by a group of animal activists at different places such as Pureilomba Khongnang Makhong, Lamlong Keithel, Nagamapal, Thangal Bazar and Gandhi Avenue among others.
Speaking to media persons, spokesperson of JCCWB, Romes Ningthoujam stated that the drive is being carried out in compliance with WHO guidelines to prevent infections of the novel coronavirus.
He also said that Dr S Ibomcha and District Health Society Thoubal provided hand gloves, masks and sanitizers as a precaution against COVID-19 while DFO of ThoubaI Forest Division, DFO Debala Laiphrakpam arranged transportation facility for the activists.
Saying that the drive was initiated to mitigate the hardship of stray animals to some extent and witnessed some injured animals while carrying out the drive, he appealed to the authorities concerned to monitor the population of such stray animals and to arrange a safer place to keep the animals, for the time being.
Officials of Veterinary Department Sanjenthong also provided cash assistance to JCCWB, he added.
