Neiphiu Rio supports Nagaland Assembly resolution on Naga issue

Former Chief Minister of Nagaland and sitting Lok Sabha Neiphiu Rio today said that he supports the recent four-point resolution on Naga political issue passed by the Nagaland Legislative Assembly .
Speaking as the chief guest at the closing function of the 5th edition of the week-long Dimapur Night Carnival at Supermarket Complex, Dimapur this evening, Neiphiu Rio said he supports to the December 7, 2017 resolution between the legislators, parliamentarians and ex-parliamentarians as well as the December 15, 2017 four-point resolution adopted in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly for an early settlement of the Naga political issue before the next Assembly elections of Nagaland slated for February/March 2018 .
"Our political issue remains unresolved for the last 7 to 8 decades.
Nagas desire for settlement so that peace and development comes," Rio added.
Neiphiu Rio then said that the Nagas are highly talented and second to none in business, "but fear psychosis exists in the minds of the people for which the full potential cannot be realised".
Rio lauded the district administration, the Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), Business Association of Nagas (BAN), East Dimapur Business Association (EDBA), the entrepreneurs, donors and all well-wishers for the success of the Carnival which mainly aims to promote young entrepreneurs and talented youngsters and artistes in various fields.
Recalling that the Carnival was first organised in 2013 coinciding with the 50 years' celebration of Nagaland's Statehood, Rio averred that Dimapur is the only commercial hub of the State and likened it to a miniature India comprising of all tribes and communities.
"It is up to us how to build this city.
We need to provide peace and tranquillity.
We need to ensure that there is no fear psychosis.
Rule of law should prevail so that investors from outside can come here and do business," he stated.
The chief guest opined that the entire Northeastern region is rich in resources but the people remain poor "because we have not exploited our natural resources, business potential and talents.
Applauding the artistes for showcasing their various talents, the chief guest also appreciated the exhibition of indigenous-themed creations by Naga fashion designers and said, "This shows that we are second to none."
Expressing his solidarity to the business community, the MP urged upon the people to maintain peace and tranquillity, love one another, respect each other.
"Let Dimapur grow as the commercial hub not only for Nagaland but also for the Northeastern region," he added .
DC Dimapur Sushil Kumar Patel along with his lady wife, DCCI President, Akashe Zhimomi, as well as officials of the BAN and EDBA were in attendance at the closing function which was witnessed by a mammoth gathering.
