Villagers urge Govt to book 'erring' MR officials

Senapati, August 17 2020:
The Mayangkhang Ningthoupham villagers are outraged over 'erring' officials of the 5 Manipur Rifles for allegedly sending one of their villagers to the village without testing for COVID-19 .
According to the villagers, one of their villagers serving at 5 MR returned home on Saturday from duty without testing for COVID-19 .
And when the villagers asked him to test on Sunday, he turned out to be COVID-19 positive.
A press statement issued by the village chairman/chief and president of the Youth Club urged the Government to book the officials concerned who sent the frontline worker home.
The personnel along with his wife were taken to COVID Care Centre, Kangpokpi soon.
The District Magistrate, Kangpokpi had also declared his native village M/Ningthoupham as a containment zone.
The statement also stated that the villagers will launch democratic agitation if the Government does not take up appropriate action against the erring officials.
CMO, Senapati had also issued an order for testing all primary/secondary contacts of the personnel.
