Imphal, October 16 2023:
The Forum for Restoration of Peace has appealed to all concerned to refrain from making provocative statements in social media when many groups, civil society organisations are trying their best to bring an end to the present conflict and restore peace & normalcy in Manipur.
Addressing a press conference today at Manipur Press Club, Forum for Restoration of Peace convener Ashang Kasar expressed his discontent over the viral statement made by RPI secretary Maheshwor Thounaojam on social media and asked whether his next target is the Nagas or the Meitei Pangals after finishing the Kukis.
Stating that Maheshwor Thounaojam has neither the might to make his claims into a reality nor the authority to make such statements, Ashang Kasar said, "Such egoistic behaviour will not bring peace in Manipur" .
He also asserted that everyone is free to go to the frontline and fight against militants but such majoritarian attitudes will only create more misunderstanding and disrupt the peace & harmony among the communities residing in Manipur.
"Only a person who doesn't love Manipur will not desire peaceful co-existence", said Ashang Kasar while demanding a clarification from Maheshwor Thounaojam.
Expressing concern over the shooting incident at Sega Road, Khwairakpam Leikai, Ashang Kasar asserted that the Government should surrender if it is not able to maintain law & order in the State and arrest the culprits involved in the incident.
Ashang Kasar further urged the Government to not give security to anyone without proper & valid reason.
