Fatalities, test capacity dip; 275 new cases, 6 deaths recorded

Imphal, August 16 2021:
The state is witnessing marginal improvement in terms of fatality toll while on the other hand daily testing capacity and vaccination rate are declining in-spite of consistently registering high (double digit) daily test positivity rate.
On Monday, the state recorded six death cases and 275 new positive cases out of 2183 samples tested, registering a positivity rate of 12.60 per cent against 10 death cases and 602 new cases with a positivity rate of 15.41 per cent recorded on Sunday.
The active caseload has come down to 6270 out of which 2246 (35.82 per cent) are in home isolation, 2003 (31.95 per cent) in CHICs, 1161 (18.52 per cent) in CCCs and 860 (13.72 per cent) in hospitals.
Among the hospitalised patients, 140 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 350 are on oxygen support and 69 on ventilator support.
At the same time, 40 patients are also on oxygen support in different CCCs.
As of Monday evening, 262 beds including 58 ICU/HDU beds in different hospitals.
There is no updated information on district hospitals, CHCs and CCCs.
However, as of Sunday evening, 2391 beds are available in different CCCs, and 276 beds (14 ICU/HDU) are available in district hospitals and CHCs.
So far, the state has recorded 79,145 positive cases and 1342 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.
The current month saw an addition of 10,046 new cases and 160 fatalities out of which 3754 new cases and 59 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.
According to official reports, all the 275 cases (130 male & 145 female) are from among the general population and their samples were tested at RIMS (36), JNIMS (3), District Hospitals (116) and other testing centres (120).The positive cases are from Imphal East (88), Imphal West (62), Thoubal (8), Bishnupur (39), Kakching (15), Ukhrul (19), Churachandpur (24), Chandel (2), Senapati (9), Tamenglong (5) and Kangpokpi (4).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
The State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported 6 Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours but no information on age & gender has been provided.
The district wise fatalities are Imphal East (l), Bishnupur (2) and Churachandpur (3).The cumulative number of deaths is 1716.Out of the six victims, two did not have any co-morbid conditions and one had received first dose of Covid vaccine.
In the last 24 hours, 546 patients were discharged from home isolation (203), RIMS (34), JNIMS (16), CCCs (155) and CHICs (138).The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,08,545 (general population - 1,04,471 and CAPF personnel - 4,074).Number of recovered cases is 1,00,559 (general population - 96,543 and CAPF personnel - 4,016) and number of active cases is 6,270 (general population - 6,217 and CAPF personnel - 53).The recovery rate is 92.64 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, a total of 1447 D-type and 393 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities of Manipur.
Only 322 vaccine doses were administered on Sunday, possibly due to holiday and general strike called by UG organisations in relation with Independence Day.
So far, 11,67,957 persons have been administered Covid vaccines out of which only 2,72,487 persons have received the their second dose out of 3,41,781 eligible persons.
Meanwhile, 29 new positive cases were detected out of 198 samples tested from Sunday 2 pm to Monday 2 pm in Kakching district.
One case was detectedat Jivan Hospital, two at Ema Hospital and 26 at government RAT sites.
All are residents of Kakching district, according to DSO Kakching.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (36,520), Imphal East (24,334), Thoubal (8873), Churachandpur (9214), Kangpokpi (2526), Tamenglong (2949), Bishnupur (8291), Senapati (1966), Ukhrul (1970), Kakching (5923), Chahdel (2102), Noney (945), Tengnoupal (1005), Jiribam (979), Kamjong (618) and Pherzawl (330).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (573), Imphal East (401), Thoubal (158), Churachandpur (149), Kangpokpi (55), Tamenglong (13), Bishnupur (174), Senapati (6), Ukhrul (23), Kakching (106), Chandel (31),.Noney (4), Tengnoupal (12), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (4) and Pherzawl (0) .
However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs and DSOs of some districts.
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 34,981 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 23,115 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 3,73,775 tests per million population against the national average of 3,54,649 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.58 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, 2183 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 12.60 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate rose to 9.36 per cent.
