Rule amended

The Government has amended the Govt of Manipur (Allocation) Rule, (2009) .
With this amendment, the regulation of transit of minor minerals both in Forest areas and Non-Forest areas/Patta land now lies with the Forest Department, as per an office memorandum of the Divisional Forest Officer, Central Forest Division, Imphal.
The office memorandum, which was signed by N Ganesh, Divisional Forest Officer directed all field functionaries and Range Forest Officers to strictly implement relevant rules.
Certificate of Origin shall be checked by each Revenue Stations and Mobile Beat Offices, irrespective of the origin of the minor minerals, it said.
In case of forest produce (sand, earth, stone ie minor minerals) excavated from non-forest areas/private land, the Forest Department can charge a transit fee of 5 percent provided that there is a valid Certificate of Origin issued under Manipur Forest Rules by the DFO concerned.
In case of transportation without a valid Certificate of Origin, the vehicles may be subjected to confiscation, said the office memorandum.
