WAD condemns Moreh and Nagamapal incidents

Imphal, June 16 2021: Women Action for Development (WAD) has condemned the incidents at Moreh and Nagamapal wherein two minors were sexually assaulted by two men.

In a statement issued today, WAD appreciated the action of Moreh Police and Imphal Police for their swift action which led to arrest of the culprits.

WAD also expressed gratitude to the doctors who provided medical assistance to the victims at a critical juncture.

WAD also appealed the District Child Protection Units and Child Welfare Committee and the Department of Social Welfare to release the interim compensation as mandated in POCSO Act, 2012 for the victims so as to ensure proper medical attention and other requirements.

The statement also reminded DCPUs and CWCs on the need to provide multiple counselling to both the victims and their family members till justice is served.
