Imphal, February 16 2017: A combined team of Thoubal and Bishnupur districts commandos conducted frisking of all vehicles proceeding from Nungba area along NH-37 near Balongdai village and arrested 4 NSCN-IM cadres on February 13, said a statement issued by the PRO, Police Department, Manipur.

The apprehendees have been identified as Pheigajei Gangmei (32), s/o Guigongam Gangmei of Balongdai village, Thuankimlak Kamei (30), s/o Jakhuan Kamei of Riganluang village (Nungba Part-IV), Dingaklung Gangmei (27), s/o Namjaolung Gangmei of Balongdai village and Johny Kamei (39), s/o Gonturei Kamei of Nungba Bazar.

Investigation revealed that they were involved in extortion from loaded trucks, tankers, bullets, Government offices at Nungba Bazar.

Incriminating articles were also seized from their possession.

A case has been registered at Imphal police station for further investigation.

Acting on a reliable information about the presence of some PLA members in and around Wangkhei Tokpam Leikai area, a team of Imphal West district police commandos conducted search operation on February 14 and arrested one PLA member.

The arrested individual has been identified as Yumnam Suren Singh alias Surendra (64), s/o (L) Y Purno Singh of Wangkhei Tokpam Leikai.

Investigation revealed that he was involved in extortion of huge amount of money from Government employees, businessmen, special contractors.

Incriminating articles were also seized from his possession and a case has been registered at Porompat police station for further investigation.

On February 14, a team of imphal west district police commandos conducted search operation in and around Hatta area after receiving information about the presence of some UNLF members and apprehended one Thongbram Gyanjit Singh alias Chinglensana (32), s/o (L) T Ibomcha Singh of Chandapur Mamang, Keibul Lamjao, presently living at a rent house at Hatta Gollapati, Imphal East.

Upon investigation, it was found that he was involved in committing prejudicial activities and recruitment of new UNLF cadres.

Incriminating articles were also seized from his possession.

A case has been registered at Porompat police station and investigation is going on.
