Imphal, December 15 2024: The Village Development Committee, Kanto Sabal has vehemently condemned the act of putting Imagi Meira convenor Thokchom Sujata and two of her associates under house arrest by Delhi Police.

Sujata and her associates went to Delhi on December 12 to attend a Nupi Lan anniversary observation at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi but they were intercepted by Delhi Police and put under house arrest.

Putting the social activists under house arrest undermines the principles of democracy and violates the right to freedom of expression, the Village Development Committee said in a press release.

It also demanded unconditional release of the three women activists at the earliest.
