Appeal to CSOs of Manipur for improvement of Manipuri boys hostel at Silchar

Silchar, November 15 2019: A boys hostel which was built in the year 1974 exclusively to provide accomodation to Manipuri at Sichar town in Cachar district is reported to be in poor state, reports our correspondent and urged all the CSOs from Manipur who have visited Jiribam in recent times including GoM to look the condition of the hostel.

Speaking to the media persons, president Benevolent Society, S Komlakanta Singh said that the said Manipuri boys hostel was built in the year 1974 on a prime location measuring one Pari near SP office in Silchar being run by Manipuri Benevolent Society.

He further said that students from Jiribam, Tripura, Cachar and Manipur come to stay in the hostel but are facing lots of problem due to appalling condition of the hostel.

Regarding the hostel, president All Assam Manipuri Student Union (AAMSU) Ph Nilakanta Singh said that a number of requests had been made to Assam and Manipur Govt earlier to improve the condition of the hostel but their pleas have not been heard till now.

As such, he appealed all the CSOs of Manipur to extend maximum support to make the hostel a better place to stay for Manipuris.
