Minister inaugurates ATL

Education Minister Dr Thokchom Radheshyam has inaugurated an Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL) at Ruda Academy, Thoubal, today.
At the even, the Minister stated that ATL is being set up to schools of the country to cultivate curiosity, creativity, and imagination in young minds and inculcate skills in them.
Ruda Academy, Thoubal also observed its 22nd foundation day at its premise.
The Minister said that learning should be made more practical for better understanding and to increase student's interest in science.
Setting up of such laboratories will help in providing better opportunities to children to work with tools and equipment, he said and added that teachers should guide the children to learn from the surrounding and environment also to establish a close relationship between children and nature.
He also highlighted that ATL is an approach of the Central Government of India to create an environment of scientific temperament, innovation, creativity amongst Indian students.
ATL will also help them (students ) in developing their professional and personal skills, he continued and maintained that the children should be prepared to face any challenges in future.
Saying that there has been a huge advancement in the field of technology and innovation but there is no answer or solution to the human suffering, the Minister lamented that the young minds should be taught the values of family and society as a whole to become a responsible citizen.
Dr Thokchom Radheshyam also emphasized that mother tongue should be used in teaching and learning process for a better understanding of the curriculum.
Learning languages is good and is essential for communication, however, these languages need to be explained and taught in mother tongue for a better and in-depth understanding.
The celebration was attended by Deputy Commissioner, Thoubal, Nongmaithem Bandana Devi; Director, College Development Council, Prof Th.Ratankumar Singh and founder, Edulife-India, Thokchom Mritenjoy Singh.
Teaching and non-teaching staffs of the school, students and guardians also attended the programme.
Prizes and appreciation letters were also distributed to the students and teachers of the schools.
