Imphal, September 14 2022:
Federal Students' Organisation, Kangleipak (FESOK) has urged the Director of Education (S) to address the shortage of teachers at Sagolmang Higher Secondary School in Khundrakpam Assembly Constituency.
According to a statement, FESOK found several inadequacies at Sagolmang Higher Secondary School during the course of a school survey.
The statement claimed that Sagolmang Higher Secondary School is a combination of a primary school, high school and higher secondary school under a single principal with 613 students in total.
Highlighting the shortage of teachers, the statement alleged that the school has only one Biology teacher for class VI to VIII students; one Geography teacher for class VII to X students and one Biology teacher for class IX and X students.
Further, the school does not have any Physics, Home Science, History and Maths teacher, the statement asserted.
In view of such circumstances, FESOK questioned how only one teacher is supposed to teach the students at high school level and how the students are supposed to learn the different subjects when there are no teachers for many subjects.
Aside from this, FESOK said that 8 teachers were transferred to the school on September 1, however 4 teachers are yet to join the school.
Touching upon other infrastructural inadequacy, FESOK also mentioned the absence of separate toilets for boys and girls, cycle shed, school hall and disproportionate number of students with regard to the size of the number of classrooms.
Stating that Sagolmang Higher Secondary School is one among the many schools approved by the State Government in the 2nd phase of the School Fagathansi Mission, FESOK urged the Director of Education (S) to look into this issue to bring about positive changes in the Education sector of Manipur.
