Letpao calls for greater participation of hill people in development process

Imphal, March 14 2018:
YAS and Water Resources Minister Letpao Haokip has appealed for better participation of people from hill districts in the development process of the State.
He stated this while attending the inaugural function of the Khonomphai Primary School at Tengnoupal district today.
The Minister said that the hill people, especially in border towns such as Moreh, need to be educated and empowered about policies such as the Act East Policy, which will hugely benefit them.
The school inaugurated today was constructed under SSA.
The event was also graced by Tengnoupal DC Kh Raghumani Singh (IAS), Tengnoupal SP, Dr S Ibomcha Singh, ADC, ZEO and many other officials.
Letpao further stated that the shortage of teachers in Government schools in remote areas is quite common and appealed to those employees and teachers posted in hill districts not to seek convenient places/ areas by using unfair practices.
The Minister also appealed to the villagers to contribute collectively for the successful functioning of the school by properly maintaining the school campus and assured arrangement of the required teachers at the earliest.
Giving the presidential speech, DC Raghumani said that the inauguration of the school will bring a positive change in the education sector.
He also appealed to the parents and society in large to value the potential of Government schools and urged them to regain their trust in sending their children to Government schools.
He appreciated the genuine interest of the Minister towards the people of Moreh in every occasion.
Later, the Minister and other dignitaries also inspected the Moreh Government Higher Secondary School on the request of the Principal.
There, the Minister took stock of the current situation of the school.
On learning that there were inadequate numbers of teachers and rooms, among many other shortcomings, the Minister immediately instructed the authorities concerned to build two rooms at the earliest under the Multi-Sector Development Programme (MSDP).
Letpao also assured to send the teachers of the school, who are currently utilised in other institutes, back to the institution.
