Imphal, October 13 2015:
United Committee Manipur (UCM) has expressed concern over the reported recruitment policy initiated by NSCN (IM) in some hill districts of Manipur.
If the recruitment policy adopted by the Naga outfit is true, such steps are bad for the State, UCM President Elangbam Johnson told pressmen at Kekrupat here on Tuesday.
UCM organised a "Langban Heitha-Leithaba" programme at Kekrupat to pay homage to all martyrs who had sacrificed their lives in protecting the integrity of the State.

On the sidelines of the ritual ceremony, Johnson further announced that UCM, All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) and Committee of Civil Societies, Kangleipak (CCSK) have jointly launched a "People's Movement for a Common Future" .
He informed that this initiative will cover all communities in the State and will be carried out in different parts of Manipur in the coming two or three days.
Voicing concern, the UCM leader added it was learnt that NSCN (IM) had been carrying out its new recruitment policy in the districts of Ukhrul, Chandel and Tamenglong.
There were also newspaper reports suggesting that NSCN (IM) was doing the same in Eastern Nagaland, he said.
People are apprehensive that the Naga outfit is executing the process with the Government of India backing, Johnson said.
He said the Manipur Government has been keeping mum on the issue and at the same time it is reluctant to make any statement on it.
Johnson maintained that such unwarranted policies of NSCN (IM) will aggravate the already fragile situation in Manipur.
He said peace and people's lives could be at stake if the Government allows the outfit to ramify its organization.
The Manipur Government should take up the matter with the Centre to curb the activities of NSCN (IM) immediately, Johnson demanded.
