Workshop on Raseswari and Jalakeli pala held

Imphal, March 13 2018: A one day workshop on "The Raseswari and The Jalakeli" (both women's Sankirtan Pala) was held at the premises of the Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy today.

The workshop was conducted as a part of a research by the convenor of the programme Dr Rekha Konsam with the support of the Indian Foundation for the Arts under the Arts Research Programme.

A Chitreshwar Sharma attended as the moderator of the workshop.

During the first session of the workshop, Dr Ch Jamini Devi spoke in detail about Raseswari and later, her party performed Raseswari Pala.

During the second session of the programme, a group of artistes led by Th (O) H Lakshmipriya Devi performed Jalakeli Pala.

Arambam Lokendro and Soyam Lokendro spoke on 'Women and Performance in Manipur' and 'Manipuri Performance and Vaishnava Ideology' respectively during the third session of the workshop.
