Leeklam Sindam Shanglen inaugurated

Leeklam Sindam Shanglen, a traditional institute offering classes and training on Meitei indigenous art and culture, officially opened its doors today at Moirang Kumam Leikai.
The Shanglen was bestowed by Kumam Ongbi Memtombi in the name of her deceased son Late Kumam Tuleshor alias Lalumba.
The inaugural ceremony was organised by the Leeklam Sindam Shanglen Committee Moirang and witnessed the attendance of Gouro Moirangcha, president, Leeklam Sindam Shanglen Committee Moirang; Secretary Hemamcha Sheityajit; teachers and students of the Sanglen as well locals from the surrounding areas.
The newly established Shanglen will offer courses on Pena, Jagoi, Khunung Esei, Moirang Sai, Moirang Haraorol, Amaiba Piba Sonarol Puwari; Langdren; Toudri, Khulang Esei, Amaibi, Thang-Ta and Drama among others.
Speaking in this connection, Gouro Moirangcha said that the Shanglen will impart education on all aspects of art and culture such as Pung, Esei, Jagoi, Haraorol etc which form an invaluable part of the rituals performed during the life of a Meitei from birth till death.
Stating that there are many good traditional art schools in Moirang, he shared that many new subjects have been added at Leeklam Sindam Shanglen to bring progress in the realm of Manipuri art and culture.
On the occasion, Gouro Moirangcha also thanked the family of Late Kumam Tuleshor including his mother for their invaluable contribution in establishing the Shanglen.
Around 20 teachers will provide invaluable education on various art and culture courses at Leeklam Sindam Sanglen.
After completing their respective courses, the students will receive certificates recognized by the Government of Manipur.
Course lengths will differ depending on the different subjects.
