Contact tracing unearths 83 vectors

Imphal, June 12 2021:
Subsequent to detection of many people infected with Covid-19 during the recent aggressive mass testing at different localities, Imphal West district administration carried out contact tracing in specific areas on Saturday.
According to a report from district administration, Imphal West, in all 1151 people were testing during the contact tracing, out of which 82 were confirmed to have contracted the infectious disease.
As a part of the contact tracing, 84 samples were examined in Sekmaijin and four found positive for Covid-19 .
In Lamboi Khongnangkhong, 168 people were tested and four confirmed while 38 people were tested in New Keithelmanbi and five found positive.
In all 198 samples were tested in Tera Urak and 15 found positive; 56 tested in Singjamei Okram Leikai and four found infected and out of 61 samples collected in Uripok Achom Leikai one person was confirmed for Covid-19.In Changangei Community Hall, 117 people were tested and nine were found positive, while in Shantipur Leikinthabi 94 samples were tested and 21 confirmed to be vectors.
The number of tests conducted and positive cases found in other parts of the district include Lairen Sajik (107 and one); Heirangoithong Jaganath (10 and one); Hiyangthang (48 and four; Heirangoithong Aheibam Leikai (seven and one); Airport (14 and one); and Kwakeithel Takhel Leikai (76 and 12).In TG Higher Secondary School, one person was tested, 40 in CRPF Mongsangei, 13 in RD Wing, 8 in Maklang and 11 in Keisham- thong Elangbam Leikai but no one was found positive.
Meanwhile, Imphal East district administration, district police and CMO jointly conducted random testing on curfew violators at Sawombung Club community hall on Saturday.
During the drive, 154 curfew violators were detained and conducted random testing, out of which four of them were detected to be Covid-19 positive.
Out of the four Covid-19 positive people, two are from Sawombung and one each from Ishikha and Pungdongbam.
Speaking on the sidelines, SDPO Lamphel Ravikumar Kshetrimayum reminded all concerned that curfew has extended in Imphal East till June 30 and as such all the public shall have to follow the same.
While opining that the random drive conducted on Saturday will make the public think twice before flouting the curfew rules, he also stated that such random testing drive will continue to prevent spread of the infectious disease.
Volunteers of Sawombung Covid Task force, Covid-19 Joint Task Force, Pourabi and Pungdongbam Covid Task Force extended aid during the random testing drive.
