2nd round of IPPI launched at Kpi, Tpl

As part of the anti-polio campaign across the country, the 2nd round of Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) of Kangpokpi district was successfully launched at OPD Complex, District Hospital today.
The launching program of the second round of IPPI was organized by District Health Society-NHM, Kangpokpi District with an objective to keep Kangpokpi a 'Polio-free,' district under District Immunization Officer programme.
The new Chief Medical Officer of the District, Dr Thangpa Serto launched the 2nd round of IPPI in the presence of Dr Jangkholun Touthang, DIO Kangpokpi and Dr Joykumar, Sr Medical Officer i/c and District Tuberculosis Officer Kangpokpi.
Apart from local civil body leaders, children and their parents, officials of Health Departments, DIO staff, NHM and Indoor staff, ASHA coordinators, Anganwadi workers and other stakeholders also attended the launching program.
Dr Thangpa Serto, CMO Kangpokpi District, Dr Jangkholun Touthang, DIO Kangpokpi District administered Pulse Polio Vaccine to a few eligible children to mark the launching of the second round of IPPI programmes in the district.
The District Immunization Officer, Dr Jangkholun Touthang highlighted that around 16,854 eligible children from 0-5 years throughout the district have been targeted to administer polio drops in 237 polio booths which will be manned by 474 vaccinators, 48 supervisors, 463 ASHA workers and 23 mobile teams.
The immunization will also cover 65 hard to reach areas and 3 transit points.
Dr Jangkholun Touthang recalled that during the first round of IPPI in Kangpokpi District, the targeted number of 14,233 was successfully crossed with the help of 545 vaccinators, 48 supervisors, ASHA workers and Anganwadi workers.
The Immunization Officer also reiterated that the main objective of the programme is to educate the public about the importance of immunizing their children which will help in eradicating the polio virus from this district and the State as well.
Meanwhile, the second round of polio immunization organised by the Primary Health Centre (PHC) Moreh under the aegis Department of Health and Family Welfare was launched at the PHC today.
District Immunization Officer (DIO) Kh Gojen, SDC Moreh H Romio, Commandant (CMO) 11 AR Moreh Dr Ch Salio Mao, Commandant (CMO) 11 AR Moreh Dr T Niangkhanching, MO in-charge PHC Moreh Dr Kh Santikumar and MO in-charge Moreh Hospital Dr Vikramjit Ningthouja attended the immunization programme today.
Meanwhile, ASHAs under PHC Moreh also conducted similar immunization programmes at different villages in Moreh.
11 AR Moreh too conducted polio immunization programme at the Indo-Myanmar Friendship Gate No 2 .
