Adoption of responsible online practices and need for safer digital ecosystem stressed

Oriental College (Autonomous), Takyel, Imphal, in collaboration with the National Informatics Centre (NIC), Manipur, successfully organised Safer Internet Day 2025 at the College Conference Hall under the global theme "Together for a Better Internet" .
The programme was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including Dr S Ranjit Singh, Principal, Oriental College; N Binod Singh, State Information Officer, NIC, Manipur; M Lokendro Singh, Head of Department and Associate Professor, Oriental College and Dr O Rudrababu Singh, Head of Department, History, Oriental College, Imphal.
The dignitaries emphasized the significance of a safer digital ecosystem and urged the youth to adopt responsible online practices, said a press release issued by Dr S Ranjit Singh, Principal, Oriental College.
A technical session was conducted by Laishram Sharat Singh, Scientist 'C', NIC Manipur, who delivered insightful lectures on fundamental topics such as "About the Internet," "Use of Internet in Our Daily Life," "Safe Use of Internet (Internet Safety)," and "Common Cyber Threats" .
Another resource person, Goman Bahadur Chhetry, Scientist 'C', NIC Manipur, elaborated on "Cyber Hygiene Practices," "Mechanism to Report Cyber Crime (1930)", "Awareness Resources for Staying Safe Online" and "Recent Cyber Incidents" .
A special discussion session, moderated by IQAC Coordinator Kongkham Biplob Singha, included an interactive "Experience Sharing by Cyber Crime Victims" segment.
Experts from NIC, Manipur, provided valuable insights into cybercrime prevention and digital safety.
The session emphasized the importance of proactive measures in securing personal and professional digital assets, educating participants on identifying and mitigating cyber threats.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, and cybersecurity professionals, reinforcing the collective responsibility of creating a safer online environment.
Various queries were raised by the attendees, and the resource persons effectively addressed their concerns, making the session highly engaging and informative.
