National Legal Services Day observed

As celebrated across the country, National Legal Services Day was observed today at Thoubal Kiyam Siphai Wangmataba Amureijam Leikai with the participation of around 100 people.
As per a press release issued by Lisham Pramo Leima, coordinator.
Legal Aid Clinic, Kiyam Leitanpok, the observance ceremony was jointly organised by District Legal Services Authority, Thoubal and Legal Aid Clinic, Kiyam Leitanpok under the aegis of Manipur State Legal Services Authority.
The event was graced by Thingujam Ongbi Sangita Devi, Councillor, Ward No 14; Laishram Thambaltombi Devi, Para Legal Volunteer, Legal Aid Clinic, Kiyam Leitanpok and Lembisana Meidingu, Panel Lawyer, District Legal Services Authority, Thoubal and Khoisnam Jeton Meitei, Advocate as the presidium members.
Delivering the keynote address, Thingujam Arunkumar stated that the National Legal Services Day is observed across India every year on November 9 .
The day serves as a platform to promote legal awareness among the people and ensure access to justice for all citizens, especially those from marginalised communities.
The celebration also seeks to spread awareness about human rights and the duties of citizens.
Everybody is equal before the law and Legal Services Authority provides various types of free legal aid to those who rightfully need it, he maintained.
Meanwhile, Kh Lembisana Meidingu educated the gathering on the topic "Fundamental Rights and Duties of the Indian Constitution" .
Additionally, Jeton Meitei spoke about "National Food Security Act" .
He urged people to avail the benefits provided under the "Right To Food" and advised them to contact the concerned Deputy Commissioner if the distribution of such food items are not executed as per the norms.
As a part of the event, a song hailing the National Legal Services was also presented before the gathering.
