Water supply to be suspended

Thoubal, May 08 2024: Athokpam Village Water Supply Sanitation Management & Development Association, Thoubal district has notified to all concerned that water supply will be suspended for few days in areas under the jurisdiction of Athokpam Village Water Supply due to cleaning and renovation work.

A press release by Yumnam Basanta Singh, secretary of the association said that the sand filter tank of the water supply has become unfit to supply water due to prolonged use and unwanted growth of water algae and other aquatic plants.

Apart from the above, flowing of pollutants from ink tank to the sand filter tank restricting the capacity of water storage , polluted water of Arong river and erratic electric supply have also contributed to the unfavourable; conditions for the stoppage of water supply, said the release.

It further informed that the association has taken up necessary measures to clean up.

the water supply to resume' water supply at the earliest.

Meanwhile, the association has started the process to provide 50 percent free water connection to the respective identified groups of the society by the Government and appealed to all concerned to contact the association's office for further details.

Lastly the association appealed to all concerned to bear with the inconvenience for the time and make alternative arrangements.
