Imphal, February 08 2024: Thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for the decision to fence the Indo-Myanmar border, Meetei Council, Moreh (MCM) has urged the Union Government to expedite the construction process.

MCM has also appealed to the Central Government to conduct a proper and meticulous survey before starting the fencing to ensure that no portion of the State's land is lost, said a statement issued by Leishangthem Brojendro Meitei, general secretary MCM.

Lauding the Central leaders' decision, MCM commented that Indo-Myanmar border fencing will check cross border drugs and arms smuggling, illegal entry of Myanmar Nationals into India and reduce the movement of anti-social elements between India and its neighbouring country.
